Below are a list of flexplates and alignment block plates for the ford crown victoria, mercury grand marquis, and lincoln towncar.

The flexplate should in theory last the life of the vehicle. But when gas prices started rising, some police departments started implementing policies that their officers must turn off their engine when the car isn't going to be moving for an extended period. This may result in chipped flexplate teeth in some departments when officers accidentally turn the ignition key to the start position when the car is running. Starter motors may also wear out more quickly with these new policies since they are being used a lot more. Prior to the anti-idle policies, in many police deparements a car's engine would be started once at the beginning of an 8-hour shift and left running continuously until the officers shift was over.

The intermediate alignment plate, is a plate which is wedged in between the back of the engine block and the transmission. This part is sometimes bent or damaged when installing/removing a transmission or engine assembly. It can also be damaged if one has to break the top ear off of the starter because of seized starter mounting bolts.

Intermediate alignment block plates.

This part serves multiple purposes:
-Keeps the starter in proper alignment with the flexplate, transmission and engine
-Acts as a lower bellhousing cover to keep debris out of the flexplate area
-Acts as a spacer in between the engine and transmission

Engine Dowel Pin - 16.0 x 25.0 Hollow
(AOD-E and 4R70W transmissions only. AOD transmission uses different solid dowel pins)
When the engine is seperated from the transmission, these sometimes stick in the engine block and sometimes stick in the transmission case. Do not forget reinstall both engine dowels when reassembling your crown vic or the engine/transmission/starter/flexplate won't line up properly.
